Los colonos
El primer grupo de colonizadores en esta región de la Patagonia fue conformado por individuos en su mayoría procedentes de Inglaterra y Alemania. Entre los años 1893 y 1905, estos colonos solicitaron concesiones territoriales en la provincia. Es así, cómo los alemanes Carlos Heede se establecieron entre los lagos Sarmiento y Toro; Augusto Kark, Hermann Kark, Rudolph Stubenrauch y Carl Fuhr hicieron lo propio al establecerse desde el extenso valle de Cerro Castillo hasta las orillas del Lago Toro. Claudio Glimann se posicionó en terrenos adyacentes a los de Heede.
Por otro lado, los británicos John Tweedie, Edward Craig, George Paton y Walter Ferrier completaron el grupo de primeros colonos europeos en la comuna actual de Torres del Paine.
The first settlers
The first group of colonizers in this region of Patagonia was made up of individuals mostly from England and Germany. Between 1893 and 1905, these settlers requested territorial concessions in the province.
